What Is a Biomechanical Assessment?
Understand how your body moves - and why it matters.
Referral & Medical Information
Bring any GP referral letter (if applicable), along with a list of your current medications and medical conditions.
Relevant Test Results
Any recent scans, X-rays or imaging relating to your foot, ankle or leg concerns.
Your Everyday Footwear
Please bring the three pairs of shoes you wear most often, especially if you’re attending for a biomechanical assessment.
Comfortable Clothing
If you’re attending a Biomechanical or Gait Assessment, please wear or bring a pair of shorts to allow a full movement assessment.
WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT DURING VISIT
Our team is dedicated to making your visit comfortable and informative.

Upon arrival, check in with our receptionist and take a seat in our welcoming waiting area. Your podiatrist will personally meet you and escort you to the treatment room.

PATIENT HISTORY
We will take the time to understand your main concerns, collect a detailed medical history, and note any medication or allergies.

We’ll also discuss your personal goals for treatment - whether it’s reducing pain, improving mobility, or something else entirely.

PHYSICAL EXAMINATION
This involves carefully examining your feet, ankles, and potentially your knees and hips if biomechanics are a factor.

Our diagnostics may include skin, nail, and foot structure assessments and vascular and neurological checks to gauge blood flow and nerve health.

DIAGNOSTICS & TREATMENT OPTIONS
Once the assessment is complete, where possible your podiatrist will provide a diagnosis and overview of potential causes of your issue.

We’ll walk you through your treatment options, answer any questions, and begin addressing immediate concerns - for example, treating corns, calluses, or ingrown toenails on the same day when possible.

PERSONALISED TREATMENT PLAN
Finally, we’ll create a tailored treatment plan for you to take home.

This written plan summarises our advice, treatment options, and any follow-up steps. Your podiatrist will then escort you back to the reception desk and arrange any further treatment appointments as required. Patients dealing with long-term pain (over six weeks) in the foot, ankle, or leg are encouraged to book a Biomechanical Assessment to better analyse movement patterns and identify the underlying causes of discomfort.
