We take a detailed history, static examinations and gait analysis to uncover the source of your problem.

We use this detailed assessment to identify your issue and factors which may be contributing and develop your treatment plan using our findings, experience and knowledge of musculoskeletal problems.

WHAT IS A BIOMECHANICAL ASSESSMENT?

Comprehensive History

We start by discussing your symptoms, medical history, activity levels and footwear to understand your concerns and how they may be affecting your movement.

Detailed Physical Assessment

We assess your posture, joints, muscles, foot shape and lower limb function in sitting, standing and movement to identify potential causes of pain or imbalance.

Pressure Plate

Dynamic pressure plate analysis shows how your feet load and unload as you move, helping us identify areas of high pressure and patterns that may contribute to foot, ankle or lower limb problems.

Video Analysis of your gait

We analyse how you walk or run, using video where appropriate to slow down your movement and identify subtle gait patterns or irregularities that may be contributing to pain or discomfort.

Identifying the root cause of your pain helps us create a targeted treatment plan to improve movement and reduce discomfort.

What You Can Expect During Your MSK Check-Up

When attending your biomechanical / musculoskeletal assessment, please bring the three pairs of footwear you wear most regularly and a pair of shorts to change into.

This allows our podiatrist to carry out a thorough examination and assess your posture, movement, muscular function and joint function.

From there, we can identify areas of imbalance and recommend the most appropriate treatment to help you move more comfortably and confidently.

During the assessment, our podiatrist will take a detailed history of your problem and may assess your footwear, posture, feet and lower limbs, muscle strength and foot shape. You may then be asked to walk or run across a dynamic foot scan plate to identify areas of high pressure or anomalies in your gait. We may also ask you to walk or run outside or on a treadmill.

Once your assessment is complete, your podiatrist will explain the diagnosis and discuss the treatment options available to help reduce your pain and improve your function.

Following Your Assessment

Following your assessment, your podiatrist will discuss their findings with you and recommend the most appropriate next steps or treatment plan. If further investigation is required, you may be referred for additional imaging or offered an Ultrasound Assessment on site to help provide a clearer diagnosis and guide your treatment.
