Our lead podiatrist, Kay, holds a PG Cert in Musculoskeletal Ultrasound and provides ultrasound assessments to help confirm diagnoses. She also uses ultrasound to guide corticosteroid and hyaluronic acid injections precisely when using these to treat foot and ankle pain.

UNDERSTANDING AN ULTRASOUND ASSESSMENT
Ultrasound uses high-frequency sound waves to produce detailed images of soft tissues, tendons, ligaments, joints and bony surfaces.
Unlike X-rays, which primarily show bone structures, ultrasound allows us to examine soft tissues and bony surfaces in real time and is completely safe as it doesn't use ionising radiation.
It can also assess structures while they move, making it a valuable tool for identifying the cause of foot and ankle pain.
