ANALYSIS

What to Expect at a Biomechanical / Musculoskeletal Assessment
Every step you take impacts your entire body.
When standing, walking or running, subtle imbalances can cause compensations throughout your muscles, joints and tendons. Over time, this can place additional strain on areas of the body that aren’t designed to handle the extra load.

Gait analysis using dynamic footscan
WHAT IS A BIOMECHANICAL ASSESSMENT?
Understand how your body moves - and why it matters.
Comprehensive movement assessment
We assess how your muscles, joints and ligaments work together, looking at your posture, alignment and movement patterns.
Detailed gait analysis
We evaluate how you walk or run, using video analysis where needed to identify subtle movement issues that may contribute to pain or discomfort.
Pressure plate technology
We measure how your feet load and unload during movement to pinpoint issues that may be affecting your feet, ankles or lower limbs.
Identifying the root cause of your pain helps us create a targeted treatment plan to improve movement and reduce discomfort.
What You Can Expect During Your MSK Check-Up
When attending your biomechanical / musculoskeletal assessment, please bring the three pairs of footwear you wear most regularly and a pair of shorts to change into.

This allows our podiatrist to carry out a thorough examination and assess your posture, movement, muscular function and joint function.

From there, we can identify areas of imbalance and recommend the most appropriate treatment to help you move more comfortably and confidently.

During the assessment, our podiatrist will take a detailed history of your problem and may assess your footwear, posture, feet and lower limbs, muscle strength and foot shape. You may then be asked to walk or run across a dynamic foot scan plate to identify areas of high pressure or anomalies in your gait. We may also ask you to walk or run outside or on a treadmill.

Once your assessment is complete, your podiatrist will explain the diagnosis and discuss the treatment options available to help reduce your pain and improve your function.
